Devon and Brad first met in an elevator ride in the beautiful Sands Regency Casino Hotel in Reno, Nevada, where they were both in town for a random volleyball tournament featuring mens and womens teams from all over the region. Silence filled most of the ride as their chatty friends planned out the weekend of fun and competition. But after a full day of volleyball, the two teams were determined to get together for a hotel party. It was later that evening when one of Devon’s teammates “accidentally” bumped Devon into Brad and they quickly realized there was a spark between them. The night was coming to a disappointing end as Brad and Devon went their separate ways. Brad realized he had made the serious mistake of not asking for Devon’s number so he worked up the courage to send that ever fateful “Hey what’s up” Facebook message and friend request later that night. Thirty seven paragraph-long exchanges later, they scheduled a first date…which Brad then needed to reschedule. Devon agreed to the reschedule, but when the day arrived, she almost canceled. Thankfully, one of her sisters was there to encourage and push her along to help this guy park on a busy San Francisco street and the first date officially happened.
Fast forward many Giants games, Palmer Chiropractic school events, sailing excursions, and puppy raising, the two finally decided that Canadians and Americans can fall for each other and live happily ever after.
