Holman Ranch Wedding | Carmel Wedding

I’ll start this off in the latter part of my Freshman year at Saint Mary’s College in 2009. My lovely fiancé is probably going to begin her tale in the Summer between my Freshman and Sophomore, her Sophomore and Junior year. One week night I went with a few of my baseball teammates to hang out with some of the other guys on our team. When we got to their place, I instantly noticed this beautiful brunette who I had never seen before. When one of my teammates introduced me to her I just gave her a half hand raise and mustered up a “hey” with little to no eye-contact. That of course was my style and seemed to always work. Just kidding, I was always shy when meeting people for the first time. So there it was, the life changing moment I met the woman who would one day be my future wife. We ended up reconnecting that summer and it didn’t take long for me to realize that the seemingly insignificant night in that dorm room where I met her, the pretty dark-haired girl in blue sweat pants, had changed my life forever. After 6 years together (3 of which were spent doing long distance while I finished college and graduate school and she finished law school, studied for and passed the bar exam), and raising one wiener dog named Rex, I proposed to Jess. I’ll let her talk about the wedding, which really was the best day ever!

How They Met, From The Groom Riley’s Perspective

The Wedding (From Jess’ Perspective):
Because we had already been together for so many years, Riley and I already had an idea of where we someday would get married. We knew it would be in a church and we knew that the church we married in would have special meaning to us. We ultimately chose The Carmel Mission Basilica where Riley’s grandparents married nearly 60 years ago. Not only is the Mission so beautiful, but we loved the idea of having his grandfather (who passed away many years ago) be a part of the wedding in that way. For the reception venue, Holman Ranch was the only place we toured and after seeing the gorgeous grounds we knew it was the one. With only two weekends left in November (which at the time we toured it was a year and 4 months away), we booked it then and there! I cannot say enough just how incredible the day was and that really has a lot to do with our amazing vendors. My husband and I left for our Honeymoon in Tulum, Mexico that Monday and couldn’t stop talking about how we really felt that it was the BEST weekend ever. Seeing all of our closest friends and family for our Friday welcome party, the wedding on Saturday, and our farewell brunch that Sunday was just so surreal. The feeling of love, excitement and pure joy was just infectious, and if 50 years from now we can only remember one thing from our wedding day, I hope remembering how we felt is it.
Huge Thanks to oh so talented team that made their dream day possible!
