M + S

Like all engaged couples, Sam & I couldn’t wait for our wedding. When COVID forced us to do just that, it felt like the worst thing in the world. We kept getting curveballs, including a shift in weather forecast that took our Summer wedding from the mid-80s to a potential snow storm. The beauty in all of it is that it helped us realize what is most important. We may have had to wait a year longer than planned, and it definitely rained on us for most of the day, but we spent our wedding huddling under umbrellas and dancing with people we hadn’t seen in almost two years amidst the pandemic. The love, the laughter, and the excitement of being together made every second of heartache during the postponement worth it.
Another perk of a delayed wedding was getting tons of time to plan the details, and make sure we got everything we wanted. From the emotional things like memorializing my mom and feeling her presence to the fun things including some much needed extra dance lessons that stole the show – the little details are what I will remember most.
Ultimately, I am far too type A to have slowed down and appreciate the little things and special moments during the planning process and on the day, but I will forever be thankful that I was forced to do so.
